El jueves 26 de enero Access la empresa dueñas del sistema operativo PalmOS a decidido cambiar el nombre y logos al ya conocido S.O. (Sistema Operativo) para nombrarlo como GarnetOS y que en vez aparezca Palm Powered que aparese Access Powered esto vendría con las nuevas versiones de este S.O. para varios del mundo Palm a sido como un golpe al hígado sobre todo a un sistema que a ido lentamente evolucionando pero seguro y estable pero es parte de la evolución este S.O. tiene que crecer para ponerse al día y la competencia es fuerte mientras que GarnetOS mantendrá la linea de PalmOS y seguirá mejorándose pero es una transición el verdadero logro sera ver equipos con el nuevo ALP (Access Linux Plataform) quien sera el verdadero sucesor del ya descontinuado PalmOS quien prestara toda la funcionalidad del PalmOS incluso correrá sus aplicaciones con la flexibilidad de Linux.
Debido a que Linux es modular puede crecer y adaptarse según necesidad. A diferencia de la Zaurus de Sharp ALP cuenta con todo el universo de aplicaciones y programadores de PalmOS ya que puede correr estos programas de forma nativa las aplicaciones no hay que hacerles ninguna modificación y la Zaurus tenían que hacerles las aplicaciones desde cero por otro lado la Zaurus se adelanto un poco pero puede resurgir de hecho el proyecto no esta abandonado. ALP también cuenta con otro soporte que según Access con pocas modificaciones en las interfaces graficas puedes correr una aplicación de Linux Desktop sobre un equipo con ALP.
Yo esperaba que siguiera la serie PalmOS con el mismo nombre pero hay que esperar que aparece en los próximos meses yo prefiero un Handheld con ALP en vez de un SmartPhone han salido demaciados Treo y pocos Tungsten espero que en abril que es la fecha en que Palm siempre lanza un nuevo dispocitivo salga uno con nueva tecnologia aun que sea con GarnetOS.
